LakewoodAlive Web Site

LakewoodAlive Web Site

LakewoodAlive is a nonpartisan economic development corporation in the city where I live, Lakewood, Ohio.  I joined up with the group as a volunteer in 2007 and immediately started work on a revamped website.  Our goal was to drive traffic to the site with frequent news updates regarding four segments of life in Lakewood: community engagement, safety, housing and news regarding the revitalization efforts of the downtown main street.  I wanted to enable the core members of the group to be able to post news items on their own so I set up each of the sections as a Blogger blog styled to integrate seamlessly with the rest of the web site.  The headline from each of the posts is displayed on the main page of the website through an RSS feed to give front page exposure to the most recent updates.

The website has driven an exponential increase in memberships with the group since its launch in 2004.

FYI, I’ve learned that WordPress is my Blog / Content Management System (CMS) of choice. It is far more robust and flexible than Blogger. Lesson learned! BTW, the Promorock.com website uses WordPress as it’s CMS.

Visit the LakewoodAlive website.
